FAQs

Answers to common questions buyers and home chefs may have before or after trying ShareYourTiffin.

About ShareYourTiffin

What is ShareYourTiffin?
ShareYourTiffin helps people in the same housing society buy and sell homemade food. Home chefs can list what they are cooking, and neighbours can discover dishes, place orders, chat, pay directly and leave reviews.
Is ShareYourTiffin a restaurant delivery app?
No. It is for society-level homemade food, not restaurant delivery. The product is built around local trust, clear menus, direct communication and helping home chefs manage orders without relying only on WhatsApp groups.
Who can use ShareYourTiffin?
Residents can use it as buyers, sellers, or both. A buyer may order lunch from a neighbour today and sell festive sweets next week from the same account.

For buyers

Do buyers pay anything extra to use ShareYourTiffin?
No. Buyers use ShareYourTiffin for free. You pay the home chef directly for the food you order.
How do I know what is available?
You can browse available dishes, photos, prices, portions, seller details, kitchen type, diet tags and timing before you order. The goal is to answer the basic questions upfront so you do not have to ask the same things in chat.
Can I order for later or for a special day?
Yes. Sellers can publish dishes for now, tomorrow, a later date, or a specific occasion such as a pooja, festival, breakfast plan or snack order.
Who handles pickup or delivery?
The seller decides what they can offer. Some may ask buyers to pick up, some may arrange doorstep handoff, and some may use a society helper. Check the dish details or confirm in chat before the order is final.
Can I contact the seller before ordering?
Yes. If you need to confirm ingredients, spice level, timing, pickup details or anything personal to your order, you can contact the seller directly through the available contact options.

For home chefs

How does ShareYourTiffin help sellers?
It gives home chefs a proper profile, reusable menu listings, photos, prices, portions, diet tags, availability controls and reviews. That means fewer repeated questions and a more professional way to sell inside the society.
Can I choose when I want to sell?
Yes. You control what you publish and when. If you are sold out, travelling, taking a break, or only cooking on certain days, you can manage availability instead of handling confusing order requests.
Can I set my own price and portion size?
Yes. Sellers decide their dish price, portion size, quantity and other details. Buyers see those details before ordering.
Do I need professional food photos?
No. Clear, honest photos are enough. A real photo of the food usually helps buyers more than a polished stock-style image.
Can I sell both regular meals and occasional items?
Yes. You can sell everyday items like lunch, dinner, snacks or breakfast, and also occasional items like sweets, festive food, bulk orders or limited batches.

Orders, payment and reviews

How do payments work?
Payment happens directly between buyer and seller. Sellers can share their preferred UPI or payment details, and buyers pay them as they normally would.
What happens after I place an order?
The seller can review the order and coordinate timing, pickup or delivery details. If anything needs clarification, buyer and seller can chat directly.
Are reviews real?
Reviews are tied to delivered orders, so they are meant to reflect actual buyer experiences. This helps buyers choose with confidence and helps good kitchens build reputation over time.
What if there is a problem with an order?
Start by contacting the buyer or seller directly, since food preparation, handoff and payment are handled between neighbours. ShareYourTiffin is designed to keep details clear so most issues can be avoided early.

Privacy and society access

Will my phone number or address be public?
No personal details should become a public directory. Contact and location details are used only where they are needed for food ordering and coordination.
Why is ShareYourTiffin focused on housing societies?
Homemade food works best where people are nearby and can trust the local context. Keeping it society-focused makes discovery, pickup, delivery and reputation much simpler.
Can a society admin or resident recommend ShareYourTiffin?
Yes. If your society already has food sellers in WhatsApp groups, ShareYourTiffin can make that setup easier to browse, order from and manage.
